FGM Scoping Study: Northern Ireland

This scoping study seeks to provide an estimate of the number of women and girls affected or potentially affected by FGM in Northern Ireland. ACSONI conducted community engagement focus groups. It further seeks to identify service provision in Northern Ireland and to identify gaps in both service provision and knowledge.

This is a guide for professionals who are thinking about making a referral and what to know what information to include. This guide can also be used by safeguarding advisors who are looking to gather more information on a referral.

This is a leaflet produced by FORWARD that can be given to families who believe FGM is an Islamic requirement.

KS3 Lesson Plans – FGM

These lesson plans have been written to raise awareness of the practice of FGM and to inform young people of the facts and issues, and how and where to get help if they need to. In order to inform and facilitate the exploration of attitudes around FGM, it is important for young men as well as young women to take part in these lessons.

FGM Good Practice Guidance for Social Workers

Schools Approach (Video)

A video highlighting how Norbury school have integrated FGM into their curriculum in the context of the UN children’s rights convention.
