At the National FGM Centre we pride ourselves on the work we do and always strive to ensure that we are fulfilling our aims of Protecting children and young people, Preventing harm, Supporting survivors and Partnering with stakeholders to deliver solutions.

Our Specialist Social Workers work on a continuum of intervention ranging from advice on cases and joint working case all the way up to full delegated authority.These services are delivered by qualified and experienced Social Workers, managed and supported by Barnardo’s.

We provide professional development and training that will raise awareness about FGM, Breast Ironing and Abuse Linked to Faith or Abuse. Our training aims at supporting participants to improve their practice regarding these harmful practices. We are proud to say that of the 1,500 + professionals we have trained, over 99% of participants would recommend our training.

Over time the National FGM Centre has provided reports and assessments to Local Authorities where requested. This has included country reports, pieces of direct work with children and families and FGM Assessments for court proceedings.
