Child Abuse Linked to Faith or Belief – Half Day Workshop

Description

Join us for this interactive half day workshop focusing on child abuse linked to faith or belief, where delegates will gain an understanding of witchcraft/spirit possession and other harmful practices and their impact on children and young people. 

Delegates will be given a certificate of attendance on completion of the workshop.

The session will start at 10am (registration from 9:30am) and finish by 13:30. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Workshop Aim

To equip professionals with the basic knowledge and confidence to recognise and deal with cases of child abuse linked to faith and belief (CALFB).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Greater understanding about child abuse linked to faith or belief
  • Ability to recognise, respond and report child abuse linked to faith or belief
  • Learning from Serious Case Reviews

Venue Information

  • Public parking is available for delgates behind the building (Court Way Car Park).
  • The nearest tube station is Barkingside (Central Line, a 3/4 minute walk to the venue).
  • The building is wheelchair accessible.

Breast Flattening (Breast Ironing) – Half Day Workshop

Description

Join us for this interactive half day workshop focusing on breast flattening, sometimes know as breast ironing.  Delegates will gain an understanding of the practice and its impact on women and girls. Delegates will also have the chance to hear from a survivor of breast flattening, Lucy Njomo, who will share her story in her own words as well as give some advice on engaging communities

Delegates will be given a certificate of attendance on completion of the workshop.

The session will start at 10am (registration from 9:45am) and finish by 13:30.
